Jafria Online Quran Center began in 2011 with a simple goal: to make authentic Shia Ithna-Asheri Quran education accessible to families who didn’t have a local Islamic center nearby, or whose schedules made in-person classes impossible.
What started as a small group of momineen teaching a handful of local students has grown into an academy serving families across the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, and beyond. What hasn’t changed is our focus: every teacher on our team is chosen specifically for their grounding in Shia teachings and Tajweed, not just general Quran recitation.
Our teaching team includes both male and female instructors, so every household can choose a teacher they’re comfortable with — an important detail for many of the families we work with. Beyond Quran recitation, we also teach Tafseer-ul-Quran, Nahjul Balagha, and Sahifa Sajjadiya, giving students a fuller grounding in Shia scholarship as they progress, not just Arabic pronunciation.
More than a decade later, our mission is unchanged: to be a reliable, values-aligned option for Shia families anywhere in the world who want their children — or themselves — to learn the Quran properly, with a teacher who understands the tradition they’re learning it in.
